From 1 July 2023, if you hold a student visa you will only be allowed to work up to 48 hours a fortnight while your course is in session. This ensures you’re able to focus on obtaining a quality Australian education and qualification, but still able to gain valuable work experience and contribute to Australia’s workforce needs while studying.
Prior temporarily relaxations on student visa work hour restrictions due to COVID-19 workforce shortages officially ended on 30 June 2023.
You will have no work restrictions when your course of study or training is not in session.
If you are already working in the aged care sector from 9 May 2023, the Australian Government has announced that you can continue to work unrestricted hours in aged care until 31 December 2023.
