Overview: Key differences between Access Plans and Special Consideration
Access Plans: Students who require long term or ongoing support should contact the Disability Resource Centre (DRC) to discuss an Access Plan.
A Deakin Access Plan is a document that outlines services, study adjustments and recommendations that a student with a disability, health or mental health condition may require in order to access all aspects of the University and demonstrate their skills and knowledge without disadvantage.
Special Consideration: is a process whereby students may be afforded an opportunity to have an extension on an assessment or to undertake an assessment at a later time e.g. supplementary exam.
You do not need to be registered with the DRC to apply for special consideration.
