I'm an international student and I haven't enrolled in any units, can I defer my course?

Before course commencement date

If you want to postpone studying your course before its commencement date, whether you have enrolled yet or not, you can contact the International Admissions team through your StudyLink portal. If you have an agent managing your application, please ask them to contact Deakin on your behalf as they will have access to the StudyLink portal.

Your application will be deferred to a future start date and reassessed in line with current entry requirements. On meeting entry requirements, the International Admissions team will then issue a new offer and you will not need to intermit your current course.

After course commencement date

If you have enrolled and your course has already commenced, you will need to apply for intermission to take a break from your studies instead. Instructions and conditions can be found on the international Intermission webpage.
