Connecting to Wi-Fi (Wifi, eduroam) on Windows 8

Note: This instruction will only work for Windows 8 Professional and Enterprise. For Windows 8 RT (i.e. some Windows tablets) please refer to Connecting to Wi-Fi (eduroam) on Windows 8 RT.

Connect to eduroam using Deakin Setup

1. Move your cursor to the top right corner of your screen, to make the Charm bar appear. Click Settings.
2. Click the Available networks symbol.
3. Select the Deakin Setup network. Un-check Connect automatically, and click Connect.
4. Open your preferred web brower and type in the address bar, press enter.
(A web browser may automatically open and direct you to the eduroam setup page, therefore not requiring this step)

5. You will be re-directed to the Deakin University eduroam setup page, click JoinNow.

6. You will be prompted to download the Wi-Fi_Deakin_University_Wrapper.exe file, click Save File.

7. Navigate to your downloads folder (or the alternative location you selected the file to download to) and double click the Wi-Fi_Deakin_University_Wrapper application to run.

8. Click Yes when prompted by User Account Control.

9. Type your Deakin Username and Password, click Next.
10. The application will run through a configuration process - Click Done. You are now connected to Deakin eduroam.

Whenever you return to a Deakin campus, your device will automatically connect to the Eduroam wireless network.
